Selected advisory experience

Representative engagements in capital, reinsurance and actuarial analytics.

Our work addresses technical, financial and commercial questions facing insurers and reinsurers. The examples below describe representative areas of advisory work without identifying clients or disclosing confidential matters.

01 / CAPITAL

Solvency and long-term insurance liabilities

Situation: Medium-size US primary insurer with long-term insurance liabilities sought to reduce capital strain.

What we did: Analyzed and developed structured reinsurance alternatives, integrating liability cash flows, capital implications, transaction economics and collateral considerations.

Outcome: Transfer of biometric and investment risk to a Bermuda reinsurance vehicle, resulting in an immediate improvement in ROE and capital position.

02 / RISK MANAGEMENT

Reinsurance treaty review

Situation: Small MENA insurer needed to understand whether its long-term reinsurance treaties were aligned with its strategic targets for its medical expense (Medex) insurance portfolio.

What we did: Assessed the alignment of the treaty portfolio and evaluated each treaty for capital efficiency, solvency outcomes and shareholder return implications under alternative terms and conditions.

Outcome: Renegotiated or commuted several non-aligned treaties, improving economics and reducing administrative complexity.

03 / ACTUARIAL

Insurance portfolio analytics

Situation: US-based pet insurer needed an independent view of its product offering, pricing and reserving.

What we did: Assessed pricing, reserves, experience trends and risk drivers using the insurer’s proprietary data and market information, applying machine learning methods.

Outcome: Pricing and plan-design changes that improved both competitiveness and the loss ratio.
